2014.Wk5: Super Lame Super Bowl

I was pretty excited for the Superbowl this year. Early in the season Dan and I jumped on the Bronco's bandwagon and watched every game leading up to the Superbowl. While I am happy for all my Seattle friends who are so excited about the big win, the game was a super big let down for me. I would have loved to see Peyton Manning get another ring, but mostly I would have just loved to watch an actual game, instead of watching Seattle just run laps up and down the field. Oh well. Once again, the best part about the Superbowl was the food.

Currently Watching: Dan and I rented Fruitvale Station and it was so good. Shout from the rooftops good. Its the story of Oscar Grant III who was shot by police at the Fruitvale Station in Oakland, California back in 2008. Its a riveting, poignant piece that has actual footage from the night of the shooting. Its won a ton of awards, including the Audience Award and the Grand Jury Prize at Sundance. I can't believe it did not get more buzz when it was in theatres, but its available now on DVD and you should definitely rent it.

PSA: Jennifer Nettles released a new album called That Girl and it is epically good. I am a big Sugarland fan, and while I really don't understand the difference between a Sugarland album and her doing a solo album, this one is apparently a solo album. Regardless, her voice is beyond compare.

Highlight of the Week: A vendor brought in breakfast burritos to our office and you would have thought we won the lottery. Our office gets a constant array of treats (cookies, cakes, doughnuts, and the like) from vendors attempting to get our business, but the breakfast burritos was a first. And while I would like to say that I remember the name of the company who brought them, I do not. But I do remember the name of the vendor who made my mouse pad and iphone holder. I guess the moral to this story is to spend your advertising budget on non perishable merchandise.

Lowlight of the Week: I always like the State of the Union, but this one was a snoozefest. About halfway through it felt like homework so I turned it off and got in the hot tub instead. Massive American fail, but (no offense Barack), I just can't listen to the same old thing anymore. Someone bring me my Hillary 2016 lawn sign so I can get excited about politics again.

Photos of the Week:

The Zags are back in the rankings, baby! My brothers got Dan this Gonzaga flag for his birthday and we proudly display it on game nights (and not game nights, because we generally forget to take it down). We play Memphis this weekend for college game day and I am SO EXCITED.

I successfully completed No Sweets in January challenge for the third year in a row. There was one minor misstep with a chocolate soufflĂ©, but I decided that doesn't count. To celebrate we roasted marshmallows over the fire, and I had three smores in an effort to completely wash out any weight I lost in the month of January.

We got Kadira a new bed this week and she loves it! Also it matches our new bedding! Win! Win!

Such a boring super bowl. If not for dip, it would have been a complete waste. I had no idea Jennifer Nettles had a solo album - I'll check it out. I saw her in concert - sort of by accident. Sara Bareilles was opening for Sugarland and we got free tickets so we went to see Sara. Sugarland started and they were great so we stayed. I think she's awesome.

I see the change in header/blog name. I can't believe I've never asked this but what's the story with the blog name? Is there one? I always assumed it was your last name until we became FB friends and I realized it wasn't. :)

I didn't really care about the football game that happened around the Bruno Mars concert. ;)
