We rang in the New Year at the house, but I didn't mind. It was kind of poetic to spend the last few moments of 2013 in the house we bought that year.
At midnight, we popped a mini bottle of champagne and cheered to 2014. Then we promptly went to bed. Here is hoping 2014 brings just as many blessings as 2013 did.
We have developed a tradition of going to our favorite Dallas breakfast place every New Years Day. I was tempted to order the chicken and waffles, but ultimately decided why mess with fate? What if it was bad and my first breakfast of 2014 was a bad one? I stuck with migas and a cappuccino, which were delicious.
2014 is off to a great start.
Highlight of the Week: After literally talking about it for over a year, a group of us finally went to a french restaurant called Rise that specializes in souffles and regular sightings of the Bush family. George and Laura were no shows, but my crab souffle was so good my stomach just growled while writing this.
Also, on a basketball related note, Gonzaga completely dominated the hell out of our rivals Saint Mary's while two of our starters were out injured. It gives me hope that our team is finally starting to click.
Lowlight of the Week: Not really anything, it was a great mini week!
Currently Reading: We are reading And the Mountains Echoed by Khaled Hosseini for my book club, and I am so behind because it is pretty long, but it is really good so far!
Currently Watching: Finally watched the season finale of Homeland and OMGOMGOMG. I thought it was so good. (SPOILER ALERT) I am glad that they nipped the Brody storyline in the bud, as it was getting old. Also, I was glad that they killed him off (is that sick to say?). He was a crappy person and I think his demise was rather poetic. I am interested where they are going to take the story next season, especially since they seemed to tie up everything at the end of the episode. It really felt more like a series finale to me, rather then a season finale.
Also, can anybody say RETURN OF DOWNTON ABBEY!
PSA: I watched all five parts of the "Beyonce Documentary" on youtube and was just blown away. She is on another level of creativity and artistic expression.
Photos of the Week:
My brother got me a new uber soft blanket for Christmas, and when at home you can find me snuggled up underneath it in bed. Unfortunately, Toby likes it too, so we often fight over who gets the prime spot.
Also, ringing in the new year with some positive thoughts:
