Fall is here! Falls is here! Light all the pumpkin spice candles!
No, but seriously, the weather has finally hit around 60 degrees and we officially turned off the AC and opened the windows. Is there anything better then falling asleep to the gentle breeze blowing through your window? I think not.
Toby is not enjoying the weather as much as I am, and is spending the majority of the day burrowed under the covers
Highlight of the Week: THE GOVERNMENT SHUTDOWN IS OVER! At least until January 15th. I hate that the threat of another shutdown is hanging over our heads right after the holidays, but hopefully our representatives have learned from their mistakes. However, some of us are still dealing with the after effects of this horrible nightmare, namely, Dan is refusing to shave his furlough beard.
Other Highlight of the Week: I have been blogging since, what? 2008? During that time I have entered a ridiculous number of giveaways and never won any, ever. This week I won a new pair of Patagonia running shoes over at A Gal and Her Dog, and it could not have come at a more perfect time. My current running shoes are so done, and I can't wait to break in this new pair! Hillary frequently has good giveaways, so make sure you follow her blog to not miss any.
Lowlight of the Week: My dad comes from a very large family, 10 kids (9 boys, 1 girl - can you imagine?) While we never lived close to a majority of them, I have really fond memories of growing up and getting together with everybody for weddings, baptisms, and family reunions. They are a wonderful family, and I am really proud to be one of them.
On Monday we got the news that my Dad's youngest brother passed away in his sleep at the age of 52. It was very unexpected, and extremely heartbreaking. My thoughts are with my family this week as they celebrate my uncle's wonderful life.
Currently Reading: Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet by Jamie Ford.
Currently Watching: Despite not coming from a football background, I have enjoyed watching football so much this year. From hating on the Aggies, to cheering for the Cowboys, there have been so many fun games to watch.
PSA: I am a huge Andy Cohen fan, and while I am not able to catch Watch What Happens Live every night, I generally binge watch all the week's episodes on the weekends. This weekend I discovered his assistant's webseries @sk Andy on youtube and it was awesome. I mean, you probably need to have a little bit of background knowledge of Andy Cohen and Bravo to enjoy it, but Daryn has a lot of skill as the host. She's a break out star, Andy, watch out!
Photos of the Week:
I took this picture literally while listening to Hunter Hayes' "Storm Warning".
Dan made me seal the tile the other weekend, which we definitely needed to do, but for some reason this product made parts of the grout turn white. I am not quite sure why but I need to figure out how to fix it.
When we bought this house I had grand aspirations of being very Young House Love-ish and tackle all sorts of home projects. However, after a few short weeks I have learned that I am not much of a do-it-yourselfer and am more of a pay-someone-to-do-it-yourselfer.
I thought Toby's face in this photo was just hilarious.
Looking Forward to Next Year: My favorite D.C. friends are coming for a visit! I can't wait!
