I take this really ghetto route to work in the morning because it knocks about ten minutes off my commute despite the high risk of being shot or hit by an uninsured motorist. One day, I was driving along when I saw two pit bulls curled up in the median of the road. You know that random barrier in the middle of roadways where there might be a patch of grass? That's where they were. Just sleeping during morning rush hour. My dog loving heart just broke. What if they get hurt? Why are they sleeping in the middle of the road? Do they have owners? Are they lost? They looked pretty healthy so I assumed they must be either getting fed or finding a solid source of food.
Seeing these dogs and making sure they are still alive and okay has become a morning ritual for me. I have since determined that I think they belong to an indivdual who owns a nearby warehouse that I can only assume stores drugs. I think they are supposed to guard it, but obviously they are not very good at it since they mostly just sleep in the median of a busy intersection.
I am not sure why I felt the need to tell you this story but I am glad I got it off my chest.

Highlights of the Week: Justin Timberlake's vague announcement that he is releasing new music this year. It is about time! Also the return of Downton Abbey- I love me some Maggie Smith!
Currently Reading: Team of Rivals by Doris Kearns Goodwin and listening to Reached by Ali Condi (which is terrible, in case you were wondering).
Movies: We watched this Disney movie called Chimpanzees which I know is totally random. Dan and I were perusing the On Demand listings and couldn't agree on anything. I clicked on the preview for it which was pretty interesting. "I'd actually watch that," I said, shocked. "Uh. Me too, suprisingly." Dan said. And people say you get boring when you get married!
Photos of the Week:
I sent this picture to my mom after re-reading it in Bossypants. She did not find it funny, and once against implored that I do something about my boxes.
My bookclub met this weekend at this really cool new place in Uptown called Max's Wine Dive. Since I am trying to be good about my eating habits, I opted for only once glass of wine which I felt warrented me trying a more expensive type. This glass cost me $11 and it was delcious, but then I realized that $11 is about how much I would pay for a bottle and ultimately decided that one really good glass of wine is never as good as a whole bottle of decent wine.
My law firm played the squares game for the Championship game this week, which I had never heard of either, but essentially you pick squares and something about random points at the end of each quarter. I dunno. What I do know is it made the game way more fun and most importantly I won, which obviously is all that matters.
I have been eyeing these booties at Anne Taylor for-ev-er and finally pulled the trigger when they went 50%. I looked forward to getting them all week, and when the box arrived I immediately put them on my feet, and almost fell over. So uncomfortable. I walked around the house for awhile and tried to justify keeping them, but it just wasn't happening. Back they went. Such a shame.
Looking Forward to Next Week: Gonzaga plays Butler on Saturday, which is our last big non conference game of the season. Gonzaga has been playing so well this year and it has been just so fun to watch. Butler is a great team so it will surely be a good match-up!

I love reading your blog, Melissa! Your story about the pit bulls just made me smile. I would create the same kind of story in my head -- and then try to convince people that that is REALLY what's going on. :) Glad the dogs have you to check in on them every day! ;)
I hope the pups are ok! That always worries me when I see them without supervision like that.
I love these posts! The poor lazy puppies! I'd be the woman slowing down traffic, tossing hot dogs out my window to them! And Ryan and I do the same thing with movies. We just watched the Disney one on lions the other day. We both cried. Losers.
