We started off 2013 with a bang by driving up to Stillwater, Oklahoma to watch Gonzaga battle OSU in a New Years Eve basketball match-up. This was a big deal because I have not been to a Gonzaga game since graduation.
Prior to making the 4 hour drive, Dan took my car in for an oil change. Once we hit the road we noticed a really weird sound, but convinced ourselves that it was okay. However, upon arriving in Gainsville we thought something might be wrong, so we pulled over to check things out. When we opened the hood, there was my air filter, flopping around all over because they oil change place never snapped it back into place.
Thankfully, it was a quick fix and it did not dampen our spirits any.
T. Boone Pickens is a wealthy OSU alum who bought up the entire stadium and handed the tickets out to OSU fans for free. Upon arriving at the stadium I was a bit nervous that we would be heckled to death by the fans, but truly, they could not have been nicer to us. So many people came up to us and welcomed us to Stillwater, and even offered us free tickets! We were both really overwhelmed with how great the fans were there.
We had really terrible seats, but it was okay because we could see fine and were surrounded by the other twenty Gonzaga fans who live in the Texas/Oklahoma area. It was a great game, with a lot of back and forth. Both teams played really well, and the winner came down to the last minute. Thankfully, Gonzaga prevailed in a 69-68 victory, making the walk back to our car much more enjoyable. We made it back to Dallas just in time to pour a glass of wine and cheers to the new year. We unequivocally determined it was our best New Years Eve ever.
The next morning we fulfilled our often talked about and sometimes executed tradition of New Years Day brunch. Our new favorite brunch place is Jonathan's in Oak Cliff where I inhaled the Migas and Dan had The Kure
Current Book: Bossypants by Tina Fey (rereading)
I also got the book Team of Rivals in the mail. I have heard lots of good things, but its really long and I am pretty intimidated to start it!
Current Obsession: Dan bought me the first two seasons of Happy Endings for Christmas and it is hysterical. I think its the closest a sitcom has come to reinventing Friends in a modern and but still entertaining way.
Photos of the Week:
We had our friends over to watch the Cotton Bowl on Friday night, which is really an excuse for me to steal their baby and snuggle with him during the game. Isn't he the cutest? I just adore him.
One of my goals is to get the house organized and right after the New Year I threw out a garbage bag worth of stuff out of my closet, cleaned it, and organized its contents. I had to take a picture because it will literally never look this good again.
Looking Forward to Next Week: Uh? My first full week back at work in almost a month. And by looking forward to I mean dreading.

That is such a precious little baby. It's hard to give them back - except when they start crying. ;)
What a fun way to spend NYE! My alma mater (Mizzou) played my husband's alma mater (Bucknell) last weekend. That NEVER happens, so it was so much fun watching the game with him and cheering for our teams. I just wish we could have made it to the game in person, but it was sold out and tickets were outrageous. Such a fun experience though!
