Royal Wedding!

HAPPY WEDDING DAY!  To all of you who poo-poo the fun of this day bah humbug to you!  I personally am all for the world celebrating happy events together!  I woke up at 6AM and started watching...

I fastforwarded through most of it until Prince William and Harry arrived. I was struck by how lucky the two of them are to have each other now that Diana is gone (and Charles is such a twat).

Speaking of the twat!

The Queen looked adorable in her bright yellow hat and dress.  She's so fantastic.

I was so impressed that they were able to get Kate in the car without anybody catching a peek!

When she got out I was...shocked that it was kind of plain.  But I have since decided that it was elegant and will stand the test of time.  I am pretty sure she could have worn a paper sack and still looked lovely.  But I was really pleased that she wore her hair half down.  She has such great hair. (Speaking of lovely, her sister is really pretty too! Perhaps she could marry Harry and we could have a Royal Wedding 2.0?)

Not going to lie, I got a little teary eyed as she walked down the aisle.

I then really cried when Harry stole a peek and whispered to William how amazing she looked.  When William leaned over and told her she looked beautiful, I heard all the woman in the world collectively swoon.

The vows were beautiful but I am still disgruntled that William is not wearing a ring.

Then! Man and wife! Happy day!

Did you watch the Royal Wedding?

Life Uploaded: The Easter Edition {April 18th - 24th}

I want to start out this week's Life Uploaded with a fabulous video I found of Jasmine Star from her Creative Live Seminar.  It interesting that I love Jasmine's blog so much because her blog is primarily focused on her photography business and I have no interest in being a photographer (although sometimes I dream about it). Regardless, I love Jasmine's blog because she is an example of an individual who became beyond successful because she followed her passion.

For whatever reason, the beginning of this video made me cry.  I don't know if it is because I am PMSing or because the concept of "The Appearance of Limitless Everything" just really strikes a chord in my heart.  Regardless, if you are struggling in your career, I urge you to watch the first 2:00 minutes of this video because I think her message applies to all people who are striving to be successful.

Now on to Life Uploaded: the Easter Edition

{Monday, April 18th} CUTEST PUPPY EVER! Enjoying getting his belly rubbed :).

{Tuesday, April 19th} Another thing that I have to get used to living in the South is all these Spring thunderstorms that bring with them terrible rain, wind, and TORNADOES.  Dan and I have lost so much sleep lately due to the stupid sirens going off in the middle of the night. Every time they go off I turn on the television and get sucked into the all the storm chasers analysis about what is going on.  Then I devise my escape plan in my mind.  Then I hit Dan to make sure he's awake.  He's not.  I hit him again to make sure that he knows about my escape plan.  The sirens turn off.  I am slightly disappointed.  I turn off the television and proceed to not sleep due to FEAR of the sirens going off again and me not hearing them and dying. Repeat three nights in the last two weeks.

{Wednesday, April 20th} I hate grocery shopping, so I normally meal plan and then send Dan off to get the goods.  This week, "Coffee" was on that list in bold because I cannot live without my coffe.  When I stumbled into the kitchen in the morning there was a box of k-cups that I had never seen before.  Irritated that he had got the wrong brand (note: I hadn't had coffee yet so my usually pleasant demeanor had not yet awoken), I surveyed the package.  That's when I saw it.  DECAFF.  ARG!!!!!  Who even DRINKS decaffeinated coffee?  Such a waste of perfectly good coffee beans.

For the entire week I had to walk out of my way three whole blocks to get my morning cup of joe before work (obviously still refusing to go to the grocery store).  I act angry, but I actually love Einstein Bagel's Vanilla Coffee so it wasn't so bad.  Regardless, my first errand of the weekend was to pick up some Caribou breakfast blend.  I can already tell this is going to be a better week.

{Thursday, April 21st}
Poor Kadira got a doggie cold and got sent home early from doggie daycare on Thursday.  She's doing fine now but ei yi yi I don't ever want kids if dogs are THIS MUCH WORK.

{Friday, April 22nd} I got a half day at work.  Did you hear that? I AM A LAWYER AND GOT A HALF DAY.  Best job ever.  I decided that only working 4 hours suits me.  I was super productive and left the office in a good mood.  I then went home and was more productive.  I even cleaned all my make-up brushes thanks to some inspiration from Megan.

Note: I downloaded the fabulous Ap Retro Camera at the suggestion of Rachel and I love it!

{Saturday, April 23rd} Saturday was a low key night with Dan watching a movie and me staying up far too late finishing reading "Room." Book review forthcoming.  Also note, the dogs are not allowed on the couch which leads to us always sitting on the floor.  Something is not right here.

{Sunday, April 24th}  We actually had a very nice Easter despite the lack of pictures of the festivities.  We met up with some friends for brunch and a far too competitive game of crokay wherein I vowed to be the reason Dan lost and chased him around the course in an effort to smack his ball as far away as possible.

I also decided to tackle the FIVE BOXES sent from my Mom.  My parents are currently selling their house and she is sending me all the stuff I couldn't throw away, but also didn't care enough about it ever take with  me.  Opening these boxes was like Christmas.  First, my tea set from London.  Unlike most girls, I have never had a "china pattern" or anything like that (I don't actually understand that), and this is pretty much the fanciest pieces of dishware I own.  I placed the set in the glass cabinet and informed Dan that "they were not for actual use, ever" and "if they break I will cry for days."

{Sunday, April 24th continued} The other big find in the boxes?  LITTLE FOOT!  Little Foot was my best friend from kindergarten to probably fifth or sixth grade.  When I was in kindergarten my house caught on fire in the middle of the night and as as my family was running out of the house I realized that I forgot Little Foot. My Dad then ran  back into the house that was, you know, ON FIRE and got Little Foot. Who wins the Best Dad Ever Award? My Dad.

Upon finding my long lost friend, I proudly placed Little Foot on the bed. When Dan saw it he said "Uhhhh...what is that?"  When I told him that my Mom had sent it to me he walked away shaking his head and I heard him mutter "I am so mad at your Mom."

Have a great week ya'll!

Life Uploaded: The Kenny Chesney Edition, April 11-17

{Monday, 4/11} The week did not start off well at all.  Its never good when you get home on Monday and feel like you need the weekend already.  Alas, a glass of wine was necessary to psych myself up for the rest of the week.

{Tuesday, 4/12} Tuesday was all work and lots of quality time with my keyboard.

{Wednesday, 4/13} Dan left to go to Boise on Wednesday, and whenever he is gone I make it a point to eat things that he he would typically not like.  That night it was sushi from Whole Foods (he doesn't like sushi from grocery stores) and a some burgundy wine I snagged on sale.

{Thursday, 4/14}  Ugh. I realized that Oprah has only one month of her show left and I began to panic just a bit.  I mean really, when Oprah's show is over who is going to tell me what movies to watch, what books to read, how to escape serial killers, and how to get fitted for a bra correctly?  I am devastated just thinking about it.

{Friday, 4/15}  Because who doesn't love spending their Friday night waiting in the airport cell phone lot?

{Saturday 4/16} BEST DAY EVER!  The long awaited Kenny Chesney concert at Cowboys Stadium.  Want to know what makes this show even better? Zac Brown Band performed too.
Also Billy Currington and Uncle Kracker but who really cares about them?  Although Dan and I did decide that Billy Currington is Dierks Bentley's secret twin.

I haven't been to Cowboys Stadium before and it was ginormous.

We actually had pretty good seats, better then these cell phone pictures indicate.  We were 11th row from the floor right to the side of the stage.

Zac Brown Band killed it, it was seriously amazing.

And of course, Kenny did not disappoint.  It also helps that the thousands of people in the arena knew every single word to his music.

The best part was when Zac Brown Band came out again at the end and they performed five more songs together! Seriously, if you are a country music fan and this show comes to your city make sure you go.  It was fabulous.

{Sunday 4/17} I have some seriously bar studying to do, but I cannot pull myself away from Room by Emma Donoghue, my book club's current pick.  Such an amazing, haunting piece of work.  Have any of you read it?

Life Uploaded: The Spring Edition, April 3 - April 10

{Sunday, April 3} It was just one of those nights...

{Monday, April 4} Its springtime! And you know what that means! Time for the first Rangers baseball game of the season.

{Monday, April 4 continued...} Our seats were only $4 and we had a great view!

{Monday, April 4 continued...} It was fun times with good friends!

{Tuesday, April 5} And so the studying begins (dread, dread, dread...)

{Wednesday, April 6} One day, and I have absolutely no idea why, I started watching Army Wives and now I am hooked.  Especially after the season finale of season one.  Ei, yi, yi, I can't believe I didn't start watching this show sooner!

{Thursday, April 7} The first real rose to bloom! Spring is here ya'll.

{Friday, April 8} Inspired by baseball season, we cooked up some hotdogs for dinner

{Saturday, April 9}  Downtown Dallas, on the way to the gym to play some raquetball where Dan decided to aim for my collarbone and leave one hell of a bruise.

{Saturday, April 9 continued}  Our backyard, where we have been spending a lot of time on the back patio enjoying this fabulous weather.

{Saturday, April 10 continued} Finally got my car washed after a long winter. See? We are all getting ready for Spring.

Recipe 6: Low(er) Calorie Fettuccine Alfredo

Adapted from MyRecipes
(400 calories per 1 cup)

I love fettuccine alfredo, it is my favorite pasta dish.  I order it every time we go to an Italian restaurant without fail.  However, fettuccine alfredo is not super awesome for your waistline.  I have been on the lookout for a lower calorie (yet still tasty!) recipe.  This is the best I could do so far, but 400 calories isn't all that bad for a cup of this cheesy deliciousness.

-1 tbs. butter
-2 garlic cloves
-1 tbs. all purpose flour
-1 1.3 cup milk
-1 1/4 cup Parmesan cheese
-2 tbs. cream cheese
-1/2 tsp. salt
-4 cups cooked fettuccine
-2 tsp. parsley

1. Melt butter in a medium saucepan over medium heat
2. Add garlic and cook for 1 minute
3. Add flour.  Gradually add milk, stirring with a whisk
4. Cook for 6 minutes until the mixture thickens, stirring constantly
5. Add 1 cup Parmesan, cream cheese, and salt.  Stir with whisk until it melts
6. Toss sauce with hot pasta and top with the rest of the cheese

Life Uploaded: The Too Much Coffee and Shoes Edition, March 28-April 3

{Monday, 3/28} I have been slowly sleeping in minute by minute for the last six months, so in an effort to get myself back on track I started setting my alarm for 6 (again).  Which meant a lot of mugs of this in the morning...

{Monday, 3/28 continued} ...and a stop to get one of these in the afternoon (I am loving the new logo, be tee dubs).

{Tuesday, March 29} I officially sent in my bar application. Goodbye life for the next four months.

{Wednesday, March 30} Waking up at a decent hour meant lots of early morning runs to doggie daycare before the sun came up.

{Thursday, Mach 31} This is, hands down, the best sandwich place on the face of the planet.  I say this because they let you put provolone on your sandwich (thanks for nothin' Subway) AND they have a soda machine with over 90 options.  Uh, hello! I can't choose between six different kinds of diet coke.  This makes me day.

{Friday, April 1} I have been sampling Brit's new album to see if I like it.  Annnnnddddd I don't.  I think this is going to be the first Briney album that I don't buy.

{Saturday, April 2} It was my good friend's birthday and we spent the day lunching (as in the verb), getting our nails done, shopping, and enjoying a new-to-me restaurant.  During our shopping spree I scored these shoes at a hell of a deal.  Aren't they adorable?

{Sunday, April 3} I finally bought a new pair of running shoes because I have tentatively committed myself to running the Chicago half marathon in August.  Its still a ways off, but I have been going to the gym regularly and running a lot.  I even made up a running schedule and now I just need to stick to it.

Welcome April!
