All those months of stress and applications paid off because now Dan and I will not have to be homeless!
I can't say much about my new job except that I am (a) over the moon; (b) so relieved; (c) want to buy a new work bag. Here are some of my options, which one do you like for a lady lawyer?

My favorite bag is #2, though I don't know how functional it is for work with the super short handles.
I have option #4 and I have mixed feelings! It's gorgeous, but I have two problems: One, it's not that comfortable to carry--the straps are rounded so instead of lying flat on my skin, they dig into my shoulder when the bag is heavy. And also those two metal grommet things there under the zipper pocket poke into me if I pick up the bag with that side toward me. Secondly, my straps are tearing down where they are attached to the bag at the loops (the weight of the bag pulls on the metal loops and that stress is tearing the straps if that makes any sense?). I've had the bag since January, problems started at about 6 months but it's still going. Ok, so 9 months for a $30 bag is not a terrible track record, and I do get tons of compliments on it!

Congratulations!! I keep meaning to tell you -- I'm actually working in Business Affairs right now! So, sort of legal. I LOVE the snakeskin bag. I'm just really into snakeskin right now but I think it's classic and chic, and would go with everything!

Love the Kate Spade and love the Longchamp. My first "grown up job" work bag was a Kate Spade, so I'm pretty partial to the brand. Can't wait to see what you decide on!
