Thing #2: Checking Something Off the Life List

Thing Number 2 involves a personal goal of mine that I made for myself when we first moved to Texas: an in-person sighting of George W. Bush. Politics aside, I think the Bush family is fabulous. I read all their biographies (here and here) and anytime they are on TV I watch the interview.  Don't worry if you are a Bush hater, I am equally obsessed with all presidential families, it is a bipartisan interest.

Anyway, a couple weeks ago Dan and I were at a Rangers baseball game and had pretty amazing seats thanks to my boss:

I made friends with the older gentlemen sitting next to me and he leaned over and said "I think the Bushs are here today, there is lots of security."

My heart went pitter patter. We were literally three rows from the where Bush's seats are.

Then, right before the game started, they came out! HOW DID I GET SO LUCKY! The only way it could have been better was if there was an appearance by Barbara and Jenna.

Needless to say, I spent the rest of the game starring at the Bushs.  What do you think George thought of that play?  Do you think Laura likes baseball or does she just go for George?  What type of soda do you think he's drinking?

I know you Rangers baseball fans are used to seeing George and Laura at the games, but I was not, and it was awesome.  I happily checked that life goal off my to-do list and now have upgraded it to MEETING George and Laura Bush.

I am currently visiting my family in IDAHO for the next week, which is somewhat related to Thing 3.  Here's a Hint: It involves a significant shift in my daily routine.

I was at the opening game of the-then-Enron Field and BOTH sets of Bushes were there. I was equally excited to see them but could not get as awesome pictures, even though we might have been as close as you were. It's neat to have a "celebrity" sighting!

Are you pregnant haha? I am really interested in the Bush family too. Politics aside, watching Oprah's interview with W last year made me really like him. Seems like a down-to-earth person!

I am SUCH a huge presidential family nerd :) I had stage seating for an event he did for a candidate I was working for back in 2006 during the midterms. I think I was about 20 feet away? Alas - too far back for a handshake, but it was so much fun and I got some really good pictures :)
