The Day Technology Failed Me

Yesterday my internet stopped working.

The volume on my phone is acting funky.

The DVR broke.

The three things I need the most to get through my day all abandoned me in one fatal swoop. The DVR breaking was by far the worst, as I lost 8 months worth of meticulously scheduled taped television, some of which I had not even watched yet, all of which I have no clue what their actual air time is.

I exchanged the broken DVR for a new one and began jotting down a list of all the television shows I would need to reprogram. This short list included:

-The View
-The Daily Show
-The Soup
-The Dish
-Real Housewives of New York, OC, Atlanta, and now New Jersey (in anticipation of the marathon happening next month to prepare us for the season!)
-Parks and Rec
-The Office
-30 Rock
-Real World
-Modern Family
-The Challenge, currently in its Fresh Meat season
-Keeping Up With the Kardashians
-Kourtney and Khloe Take Miami
-Pretty Wild (awful, don't watch it, I got sucked in and am totally regretting it)
-The Hills*
-The City*
-Kell On Earth*

The worst part of that whole list is that I know I am missing some shows and I just can't place my finger on which ones. The most embarrassing part? It looks like television listings of a 17 year old girl. In my defense, sometimes I throw in a little Rachel Maddow? 20/20 when Lisa Ling has a special? I own Planet Earth DVDs?

*I almost forgot those, thanks Maggie

What does your weekly programming schedule look like?

omg, i would cry if my dvr broke.

my list includes, but is not limited to:

ghost whisperer (um, yes. the repeats and new episodes.)
kardashians, all variations of the
gossip girl
mad men

real housewives of ny and nj
rupauls drag race
daily show
modern family

this also reminds me that i want to set tori and dean to record. god, i love that show too.

My DVR is set up almost EXACTLY like yours... same horrible reality shows, all the time :)

We have very similar taste in TV.

Also, let's talk about Pretty Wild, because it is quite possibly the worst reality show I've ever seen (I mean, it's all about showing off your boobs and crying hysterically over something stupid and, inexplicably, Ryan Cabrera)...

AND YET I cannot NOT watch it. Because it is brilliant.

Currently on my DVR list: Parenthood, Brothers and Sisters, LOST, Top Chef.

To make you feel better, most of America is with you. These are the most popular shows on

I have precious little time to watch tv during the semester, but the shows I never miss are The Office, Gossip Girl, How I Met Your Mother, and Family Guy.

Haha! My dvr is pretty teenage girlish, but it is counterbalanced by my hubby's selections of shows from the history and military channel! Uhh!

Your list is amazing. That's seriously the best thing I've seen in awhile. My shows are:

Big Love
The Office/Community/30 Rock

I'm sure you'll remember them all soon :)
