Back in the day I used to write a lot. You know, old school writing, with a pen and paper for hours every night filling books of journals with all my angsty teenage thoughts. It is something that I have just stopped doing over the past few years. Maybe because I got over my teenage angst? Or maybe it has just turned into adult angst which is really boring. Either way, I miss writing but I do not think I could write with the same passion about my everyday life like I used to. I do, however, want to keep some kind of journal just to keep track of everything that happens so when I am old and can't remember anything I can annoy people in the nursing home with my piles of cataloged memories. This blog has done that to a degree, but I still don't post about a lot of things because they are either private or boring. In order to remedy this void I decided to do a modified 365 day project where I take a photo every day for a year starting on my 26th birthday and try to write a little snippet of what happened that day. I was a little concerned about my ability to keep up with the project, but the first month has gone really well. While I do not think I am going to share every picture, I thought it might be fun to share some of my favorites once a month. Here are my favorites from March 11 through April 11th.
I already wrote about Little Miss Emily, our foster dog for a couple hours. I love this picture so much I had to post it again.
The weather in Dallas has been fabulous and I am trying to soak up every minute outside before it becomes unbearably hot here in a couple months. One of my favorite places is to take Kadira to the nature preserve about a half hour away from where we live and wander through the miles of paved roads and unpaved trails. It is so beautiful there and makes me feel outdoorsy...even though it is a gated park in the middle of a neighborhood.
Do you ever wake up needing a cupcake? Like your whole body is aching for some sugar and unless you get some you will obsess about it all day? If so, then this picture speaks for itself.
One of the hardest things about the project is the feeling that you need to take a picture of something really cool every day. Well I realized rather quickly my life is not cool everyday, so I had to get over that really fast. One of the challenges is capturing images of every day life, which is (unfortunately) where this picture comes from.
Kadira's first birthday was on April 2, and I felt the need to memorialize the event with a picture despite her insistence to not sit still. This was literally the one moment she stopped moving the entire time we were in the backyard
Easter was a little blah this year, one of the many reasons I dislike living 1420.58 miles away from my family (yes I mapquested it). Nonetheless we made the best of it and dyed some Easter eggs for old times sake. I think they turned out pretty amazing.
Does anybody else do a 365 Project?
